Travolta's 'Urban Cowboy' F-Series...

Just watched 'Urban Cowboy' the other night (not sure how Travolta's early acting got him anywhere in life) and was curious what truck he is driving? Obviously a '79 4x4 and looks like a higher-end trim model...but couldn't make out any more than that. Thanks.

You can make out a red badge but I don't know the differences between an early model XLT and Lariat. Did see a passenger side tool box.

I do believe that most of the shots were of an F250 Lariat two tone with race track trim.
As I recal it was a black and silver 4x4 truck with an auto trans.
I also seem to remember seing some shots of an f150 that looked similar but the lug pattern was a dead give away.

Dont know why that dummy gave up that smokin hot chic for Sissy, but what are you gonna do?

Funny you mention that, I was just thinking that Sissy was the better catch in that she was decent looking and pretty much worshipped the ground he walked on...just the way every good wife should be. *looks to make sure own wife can't see this*

I believe it's a soild black Lariat. I don't think it was a 4x4 ,but maybe had the front lifted. for the larger tires.

Was it an all black truck? Could be,,,,,,lets see if I can find it.
Yes, here are a few clips. Deffinately a 4wd.
What kind of cowboy would be in a 2wd? Do they even sell 2wd trucks in Texas? I think it is against the law there. Lol.

At the start, when the sun is shining on the back of the truck, it looks brown.

Looks like a 78/79 half-ton Lariat with the tu-tone delete and manual steering.

Anyone wanna track this one down?

There are business in Hollywood area that lease vehicles to movie studios. Watch the trailer for Urban Cowboy, find out who the leasing company is, and contact them. Whoever does this, will you check on Steve McQueens '68 Fastback for me?

The Bullitt mustang has been in a private collection for over 25 years. The dude won't let anyone look at it and only one magazine reporter has even seen it during that time.

It's a shame. The car is iconic and seems rather odd the guy won't let the car be photographed or shown in public. Which really brings up a lot of questions if the car is even legit in the first place.

I can be sure he's doing it out of respect for Steve McQueen.

I had to rewatch this movie last night because of this thread and I was surprised to see it was a 2WD truck he was driving. It was also cool to see all the other old trucks in that movie.
