2007 Blend door repair procedure??

I have on 07 with electronic controls. I have control over fan speed and which outlets get air flow but very limited control of temp. I can get some heat out of the floor vents and none out of the defrost vents. I have done the disconnect and reset proceedure with the module with the same end result. Is there a way to validate that it's the actuator and not the controller?

Looks like I need to tackle repairing a faulty blend door or actuator. Is the entire process documented somewhere? I found the process documented for older trucks but not the 04-08s. Can it be done on an 07 without removing the entire dash?

Thanks

Look here, this is all I've found so far. There are two blend doors one for temp and the other for where the air comes out. I think the dash has to come out for the temp one. 07 if it's still in warranty let the dealer do it.

No warranty, I have to do this myself. Maybe time for a shop manual. Anyone chime in with a way to replace the actuator without dash removal?

According to the service manual you can replace the blend door actuator motor by dropping the glove box and removing the radio. However, I've heard the three screws are difficult to access. If you do attempt this please take pictures as you do it and post them. This is becoming a common problem on here and it needs to be "promoted" to a how-to article.

Sorry no pictures but here's the scoop.

1. Drop glovebox

2. Remove dash panel above glovebox (4 screws)

3. Pop off center panel and disconect wiring connectors

4. Remove Radio

5. Remove passenger airbag (follow proper procedure, disconect battery and discharge system by leaving ignition on). Remove cowling between bag and windshield. Remover push in fasteners at windshield side of bag. Remove three 10mm boults that hold bad. Lift carefully and disconect electrical on ech side.

6. Actuator fasteners are now visable and accessable with standard tools (1/4 drive socket with long extensions and short box end wrenches).
Remove hex screws and lift out actuator.

7. Red tab on electrical connector is pulled straight out. This lets you depress tab to extract connector.

The actuator has a shaft with teeth on it that will only let it be installed correctly.

Reverse above proccedure and you will be good to go.

The actuator was about $28.00 full retail from my dealer.

It took me about 2 hours to complete the change out. Expect your hands to get a little niched up by the dash metal. Overall not that bad.

Question

Why are ya'll having to replace the blend doors? My 07 has just recently started making a "creaking" noise in the dash when I cycle thru the a/c controls.
