Since Ford has already made mention of this and it will be unveiled at the November SEMA show a 7.5 version of the 6.2 has been developed producing a strong 850 HP. This is for Trophy truck racing but it shows how big in displacement this engine can get. There are rumors that a 7.5 V8 will replace the v10 after V10 supplies are gone. I suspect this depends on Diesel prices and if there remains a market for big gas engines.
I asked if FORD Racing was building a crate engine for sale and was told it should be out within the year.

It's a different motor than the old one, if for some reason you hate the 460, this new engine is not the same engine. It just happens to be a 7.5 liter, it may not even be 460 cubes.

 

I heard the production engine will be 7.0 liters. A 7.5 would be awesome.

I hate to be an old man about all this stuff... and don't get me wrong, I've watched the Ford videos on the new diesel but haven't seen anything except the raptor truck. But I do have a question.

How in the world do one figure out CUBIC INCHES on all these European measured/litered engines?

If ya don't wanna give me the formula ( which is probably best anyway ) tell me what cubes both engines have... or will have.

 

Basic mathematics, but best if you know the exact cc displacement. There are 2.54 cm per inch, and you do that squared for area or cubed for volume.
The actual displacement of the Ford engine is 6207cc divide it by 2.54 3 times, and you get 379CI.

4'' bore/ 3.85'' stroke.
102mm (4'') bore and 95mm (3.7' stroke)
Volume of the cylinder = ∏r²x h = 3.14 x 5.1² x 9.5 (in cm) radius is half the bore diameter, and h = stroke
= 3.14 x 26.01 x 9.5
= 778.8783 cc

Multiply by the number of cylinders (8)
= 6231

So the bore/stroke measurements given must not be exact. I am betting the 6207cc is accurate.

 

Ford put it on the back burner when fuel spiked a couple years ago. Most, if not all of the engineering should be done since it's based on the new 5.0/6.2 block.

 

For a quick and dirty conversion 1 liter is about 60 cubic inches. "5 liters = 300 inches"

 

6.2 Boss has:
4.015" bore/ 3.74" stroke

But the end result is the same

378.8 ci
6205 cc
6.205 L

 

Just multiply the number of litres by 61.
Example; the 5.0 engine is 302 ci, 5X61=305 cid
A 61 cid Harley = 1000cc or 1 litre
427s & 428s are both considered 7 litre engines, 7X61=427 cid
