Rebuilt 300 inline 6
Does anyone know where to get a reasonably priced, rebuilt 300 inline six with a carburetor? I checked jasper, and it is out of my price range. 1900$ or so. Road master has them for 1045$ with a 200$ core. I would like to get one in the future for this truck, or a older one. 1980-86 f150. Would this carb 300 6, bolt right onto my tranny? I have a 1988 f150 xlt lariat, with a 302, and a automatic overdrive tranny. Im am wondering about a well running engine perferably 1200$ or less, thanks for any help.

The only way UR going to be able to do it the way U wish, is to go to a Wrecking Yard & find a decent block, purchase a rebuild Kit & do it URself.
Any trans that fits the 240/300-289/302-351 blocks will work.

sounds great, but I can't afford the engine right at the moment. Thanks for the help though guys, I think I will keep the 302 in my truck, and put a carb., 300 inline 6 in a 1980 to a 1986 f150 with a four speed manual transmission, and more important four wheel drive, but im not 100% sure. Two wheel drive is great till december comes around. Then I have a 1/4 mile drive way to climb. I love a carbd 300 6 and a four speed better for certian things. But for right now This 302 2wd is great for hauling, and driving around. Really, thanks for your help. I will let you know when I get a job, again and get everything back together. ONly been unemployed for a short while.

I guess I signed off too quick greyghost85.I have a '96 f150 300 5 speed with 163k.I had a '91 F150 300 and I bought a '83 f150 that had been rolled up on its side in a wreck, body was pretty messed up but the engine was in great shape with 53k on it.So,I pulled the engine and pulled the oil pan,put in a new Melling oil pump and put an EFI valve cover on it and derusted the pan and cleaned the engine and painted it Ford blue.It has the manifold assy with carb sitting beside it and also the crank pulley dampener, they were removed for convertion to an EFI,also gave the dizzy to my nephew, since I would have used the '91 dizzy. This was all for a back-up engine for my '91,which has long since departed.Since I have found out that the head has the wrong combustion chambers for EFI.I may do something with it down the road,I thought I would help this young man out,but he's short of funds and really doesn't know what he's going to run yet.I put you on my friends list, then I couldn't get back to the part if I would accept your request. If you send it again I'll fill it in first.I'm pretty new to this forum stuff and really don't know how every thing works.
