'89 F250 Flexplate replacement

Hello Everyone!

Have a bad flexplate that I need to replace but don't have any leads on where to pick one up other than the Ford dealership from my searches around the local parts stores. Does anyone here have an online store that you know of where I can get one of these for my 7.3L that won't cost me an arm and a left leg? Any source would be great really as I need to get this truck up and running. Also, any tips on how to get this thing out or a "Good" repair manual as my Haynes is not very detailed. I'm sure I could figure it out, but I just don't want to take forever getting this thing out and messing something up in the process. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Welcome to FTE and the IDI forum.

What are the specifics on your ride?

2X or 4X
E series or F series
C 6 or E4OD

Replace the ring gear if that is all that is bad much cheaper than a whole new flexplate.

Thank you, Dave!

My Specs:
1989 F-250 4X4
7.3L Diesel
Automatic Trans. - I have the "Overdrive Cancel Switch" so that would mean I have the E4OD, right? (P-R-N-OD-2-1 shifter pattern)

Online dealers usually are much cheaper.......50% off usually...... it is also called a "drive plate" on Ford pages.

I've been having trouble finding a place that sells what I need online but check out these sites below.

This is the drive plate you were talking about, PLC but they don't have one for the 7.3L.

Here's the ring gear, but from what I'm seeing on my flex plate, it's all one piece or at least looks like all one piece so I'm not sure what it is that they are selling and how it would be used. Unless it has to be welded on and then balanced, not sure.

This is what my flexplate looks like essentially. How can one charge so much for that??? Is it because it isn't in high demand or what?! Outrageous! There's got to be a better source for this thing or at least something a little cheaper. Can't afford that much, not at the moment at least. Argh!
