August thread?

Hard to believe it's 1 Aug already... Feels like OCTOBER . Drove to work with an outside temp of 48. Makes for good sleeping weather though.

It was almost unbelievable the number of bikes, cars/trucks/campers hauling bikes heading north on I-29 towards Sioux Falls. It started last Thursday and was still going strong on Sunday. Seems to have slowed down to a trickle now, guess if you are not at the Sturgis Rally by now, you're too late!

It seems some come before the start and spend a couple days and head back or come later on in the week and stay after. Not sure how many stay for the whole run.

My neighbor loaded up his trailer and was heading out this morning. Saw quite a few bikes headed north on the way into work today too... I checked on room rates in Rapid, just in case I wanted to get away this weekend, rooms are available and only about double the rate when we went out there in May. I guess that isn't too bad...

Trailering a bike 400 miles? Sorry if I am going to ride a bike I am going to ride the bike and will not trailer it. If its on a trailer it better be broke down or stolen. I feel better not that I got that little rant out of the way.

Yesterday Stugis had a pretty bad hailstorm. It happens at least once a rally.

Tomorrow at 7:00 AM I start a 8 day vacation. Life is good.

I personally am glad the rally is over with! I enjoy my one trip to the Chip but I live in Rapid City and i really dislike all the traffic around here.

Even worse than the numbers is how they drive...

Yeah, I can't imagine how you guys deal with all that traffic out there during the bike week. I used to live in Colorado Springs, and the summer tourists drove me nuts!

My neighbor has a toy hauler and takes the bikes along. That way they have a place to stay out there. I'm kindof mixed on that idea, I'd just as soon ride the bike wherever I'm going. Not into the camp-along-the-road thing, however. Hope to do a bike trip to the Black Hills one of these days, but it won't be during bike week... too many people for my liking!

Seems more people are getting wise to the gouging, and either coming just before, or just after the rally and only catching a day or two on each end... just a thought.

I survived the rally this year again but that hail storm was a close call. My group just so happen to be in worst spot of the whole hail storm. It bust out rear window on my brothers 04 Grand Prix and nearly busted the front window out. The body is pretty much junk now. After the storm the campers got the hell out of there. Red was kind of crappy and Buckcherry was great until the lead singer decided to bail out becuase of lung problems.
