Rislone engine treatment

Does anybody here use a quart of Rislone at each oil change to minimize deposits? I know they recommend against using additives, but Rislone sounds like one of the safest on the market. Its probably safer than MMO as far as not affecting viscosity, right?

IMHO if the manufacturers and oil companies thought products like Rislone were so great they would already be using them or recomending their use with their products.

Rislone has been around not quite as long as MMO and has a loyal following. I used it 30 years ago as an engine flush. Such additives are no longer needed with modern oils and cleaner-running computerized engines.

Rislone engine treatment

Rislone is great for cleaning up a dirty, not filthy, engine. It is also good for helping free up lifters that are plugged and don't want to pump up.It should be used only as needed and not part of a regular oil change.

Rislone engine treatment

I use a quart of Rislone at every oil change which is every 3000 miles maximum. I do this for all three vehicles (listed in gallery) and have been doing it since 1977 when I got my new '77 F100. I wouldn't hesitate to use it in the new Fords that recommend 5W-20 oil. The folks at Rislone say the base oil they use is about a 5w20/25 and that you can use up to 25% of the crankcase in Rislone. My last oil change on the F150 I put 4.5 qts oil and 1.5 qts Rislone. IMHO it is great stuff. I just put some in a little old fashioned oil can and am waiting for the next squeaky door hinge in my house to use it. I guess I am a Rislone nut.

From all that I've heard about oil treatments, they seem to do more harm than good. The general consensus is that if you change your oil on time, you shouldn't need any engine flushes (until you start getting "up there" (75K miles) for a while. Like the other guy said, modoern oils and modern engines don't generate as much "crud" as they used to.

keep it simple; keep it running.

great stuff

In 1991 I bought a 1985 LTD, found it to be sludged up pretty bad, using mobil1 and rislone, sludge was gone in three oil changes. I've used it every oil change since, sold that car with over 300.000 miles on it in 2006
