R&R egr valve on 2004 F350 6.0 power stroke diesel

How do I remove and replace the egr valve on my 2004 f350 power stroke diesel ! Thanks in advance

This pic from the 6.0 tech folder shows what I think is the best way to pull the valve:


Just take a long bar and slide it under that wire loop, lever it off of the top of the alternator and it'll pop right out.

It was completly black. Installed a new one and we "ll see if it makes a difference. What do you think?

If the top part of the valve was clogged up it's bound to be better than it was. If it just had a sooty coating there may not be much of a difference.
