Kittanning is about 20 miles north of me. Nice area. Friendly people, rolling hills, farms, small to medium sized businesses. It's the seat of Armstrong County. Name comes from the Delaware Tribe ( Native American) it means " at the great stream " refering to the Allegheny river. Come summer it's river rat's paradise. Fishing, boating, floating parties. Used to be big coal mine country along with steel and glass plants. Pittsburgh Plate Glass ( now called PPG industries ) started out in neighboring Ford City. PPG's coatings & resins division was one of the first chemical companies to take action on the long term effects of chemical exposure. U.S. Route 422 and PA Routes 28 & 66 pass just outside of town. All 3 roads are major truck routes so the area sees a lot of traffic.

dang i might just have to find a reason to come out there and check it out, we have about 71 arcres just south of Rainbow Lake (i hear it is very small) and north of Pine Furnace. sounds like a great place to live, would be a big change from So Cal.

Brady, now that you've narrowed it down a bit I'll call an old buddy of mine who lives a couple miles outside of Kittanning. He's been there about 15 years and knows the area well. I do know Rainbow Lake isn't very large but I'll see if he has any more info or pics.

BTW, lots of little towns up in that area. Last time I was in Mayport which is north of Kittanning they boasted a population of 9. That's nine residents.

i could make it an even 10, my family (long ago) once owned this land and the rainbow lake land but split it in half and sold it.

Ain't life funny. My friend called me last night with a tech question but I was busy at the time and forgot about this thread. His brother lives in SoCal. I don't know exactly where.
