Origionally styleside or step?

I was looking at replacement parts for my bed, and realized that I do not have the origional bed on my '63 F-100 Custom Cab. It looks to be of another year, and I don't know exactly. How do I find out if it was origionally a Styleside or Stepside? I am not finding a warranty plate anywhere.

Thanks
Jay

Warranty Plate is on the drivers door under the latch for 63.

The correct bed for a 63 non unibody style side is the earlier 57 to 60 bed. It looks wrong but is 100% correct.

Post a picture or link to photobucket for us to see.

F10CK380666

F10 = F100 2WD

C = 292 2V

K = Kansas City Assembly Plant

380666 = Assembled February 1963.

As you can see, the VIN tells y'all nothing about what bed the truck came with originally.

And...none of the codes on the Warranty Plate will tell what bed the truck had originally, either.

That's the way Ford did things back then.

It wasn't until 1973 that Ford began using a code (3rd digit of the Body Code) for the type of back of cab equipment.

Here's a photo I found on the web that shows what your non-flareside bed would look like: http://paulstones.com/Images/mytruck.jpg
61-63 used the 'wrong' bed from the 57-60 trucks when you ordered a smooth side bed but not a 'unibody'. These were also standard on ALL 4x4s that didn't have stepside/flareside beds.

1957/60 Beds were used on the following 1961/66's:

1961/65 F100/250 4WD's / 1966 F250 4WD's (not 1966 F100 4WD's)

1961/66 F350's.

1961/63 F100/250 2WD non Uni Stylesides. The 1961/62's non Uni Stylesides are somewhat rare, 1963's are far more common as the Uni was dropped in midyear.

The term "Uni" is a mis-nomer as Ford never called them that.

Uni normally refers to a Unit Body which no F Series truck ever had.

Since the bed was attached directly to the cab, Ford called them Integral Cab Pickups.

So maybe we should call them "Integies"?

ok.. thanks for the feedback guys. from what i'm gathering so far, it really doesn't matter what it was, nor what it is as long as it fits, works, and looks sexy..... Would the origional sales receipt have info? I may have access to that... oh, and it looks like the door had been replaced, there is no warranty info anywhere on either door nor door frames... Jay

jay3403: Why don't you send a photo of your truck? More than likely it has the 57-69 "wrong bed" which is the correct bed for that year truck, but it doesn't match the lines of the cab. You could replace it with a flare side bed if you really are offended by the "wrong bed". I have the same situation with my crew cab, but I've seen a couple of 63 "wrong beds" in a dark color recently (blue, black, etc) that's starting to grow on me.

Is your truck a short or longbed ??? If its a shortbed(114" wheelbase) it prolly was a flareside box and the aforementioned 57-66 wrong style bed wasnt offered on the trucks set up for the 6 1/2 foot beds...those were either flareside or unibody/integral cab trucks...how about integers for a nickname for them 61-3 1 piece wonders ??? LOL
