F150 1998 and 2000 Tow/trailer ratings? Can take camper & boat?

What are the F150 1998 and 2000 Tow/trailer ratings? Can it take camper & boat? I am thinking of buying 1 of these 2 vehicles.

The 1998 has a 4.6litre V8 with a tow pkg.
The 2000 has 4.6L engine (as the dealer said) and a "6250 GVW pkg". Is this a tow pkg?

Can I take a 2,000# box camper and a 1500# boat with either vehicle?

Has anyone tried this with a 150? Any links to the exact specs? All comments appreciated.
Thanks.

Your not going to want to hear this but what your thinking of is a no go show for a F-150. A 2000 pound camper is going tobe too heavy for a F-150 then towing a trailer behind is over taxing the truck. I would consider a F-250 which will carry a 2000 pound camper but pulling a trailer might be pushing it depending on what power you go for.

Good Luck

I second Kenworth's comments. Just the camper alone would probably put an F150 over gross. An F250 is a much better choice. Look for GCWR, or Gross Combined Weight Rating in the owner's manual. That will tell what the rig is rated for.

The engine will probably be up to the task but 2000lbs it to much to put in the bed of a 1/2 ton'er. We pull a tandem axle camper and behind that out boat. That is with my dad's '96 dodge 1/2 ton 5.9L. The boat isn't a monster but with the two combined it does add quite some weight. It suprisingly handles it very well. But the dodge 1/2 tons are ALOT more heavy duty than the fords are, ive seen the difference.

I pull a 26' 4000+lb travel trailer behind my supercab with the greatest of ease, but I have way more motor than you're looking at. I've even pulled 9,000lbs on the factory bumper of my old '70. Don't try this at home, kids.
What you need to do is to figure out exactly how much the camper and boat weigh with all your camping gear in them. Then find the gcwr of those trucks and compare what the truck weighs fully loaded(gas, gear, and family) and compare that to the combined weight of the camper and boat. I think you're gonna find that you'll need a bigger truck.

you can call your any ford dealer parts dept., give them your vin number, ask them you want to know what gear ratio your rear end has. once they give you the ratio, you can look in your manual, it will list the towing capacities for different gear ratios. my '98 f150 v8 4.6 will tow up to 7000 lbs., now that also depends on your the class of hitch on your truck. there are different classes for different wieghts, a hitch installer may help you on that.

Your problem is not so much towing capacity but of GVW.Take the weight of your truck, add two people,a tank of fuel, your 2000# camper and all your gear. Now add on the toungue weight of a boat trailer and you'll find that you are going to be way over your GVW of 6250#.Camper hauling really needs a 3/4T or even better,a 1 Ton.Sorry.
