John, I wouldn't bother...

You don't want to plow with a Ranger.. It will not take the beating..
You hit one curb and it will probably fall apart..

If you want to plow get at least an F250...

What are you planning to plow??? If it's just your driveway invest in a good snowblower.. It will be cheaper in the long run..

What would be good for that would be an older bronco or maybe a Jeep.

Either way it will cost you more than a snow blower and the insurance you would be paying..

ANother option would be to get a Bobcat or maybe a John Deere/Kubota style bucket loader.. Probably more fun anyway..

John...I've got a few customers who have put Homesteaders on their Rangers...one even plows his road with it if the town doesn't get out soon enough to suit him. They are not cheap however...$3000+/-...and they are meant for personal use only.

John...any Fisher Dealer can do the installation. There is very little weight that stays on the truck when you're not carrying the blade. I believe it is somewhere around 80 pounds. When you're carrying the blade...I believe you're carrying less than 500 pounds.

ahhh when u said customers i thought u meant that u outfitted them. i priced it out got to prices 3350 for homesteader and 3600 for suberbanite i think im just gonna stick to the snowblower on the fact that my insurance would sky rocket with a plow

John,

I have a 87 Toyota I use to plow just my driveway. It does a decent job but it does tend to get stuck a bit at times. I had used the 4.0L Ranger to pull out the Toyota a few times. The plow ended up hung up on the bank i was plowing into. The Toyota is a bit to light weight and with a wooden bed it's even lighter. It gets a little fishy in the snow in 2wd (I had to plow 2 friends out this past winter) driving down the road.
I have pushed a fair bit of snow at one time with it but you really have to plow in stages. If you have a pile to move you have to take like a 1/4 blade at a time. I also can't really stack the snow you need to plan on a pile 1.5 blades high and as deep as what you guess you will need. I did run out of room but luckily I live at the end of a road and started pilling it up at the end where the town could move it easier than me.
I have a about a 120' driveway with 4 car wide at top and it takes me about 30-45 minutes to get it to perfection with 6-10 inches on it (and moving cars around).

Hope that helps.

Edit:
I have also contimplated an ATV with a plow but was told they pretty much suck A and my Toyota was 100 times better.
