"07" Crown Vic Conversion in a 1959 s/b
#34
The reason that I was asking about the year of the frame is 'cuz I've not seen such short forward cab mounts before.
I'm not sure what the differences are on a '57-'60 frame (from the '53-'56). I believe it is in the length.
I put a Camaro on my '56 but I have a '57 that I've not yet started on. I want to use a Mod motor in it and the CV frnt clip certainly looks like an option. My pick-a-part is full of those cars.

Hello. I am new here. I subscribed because I was interested in the Crown Vic swap for a 58 f100. I was hoping to do the swap and run the cop car steel wheels or some mustang wheels. My truck will be a rat/shop truck. I cant find many photos of 57 to 60 longbeds that are hot/rat rodded. Anybody got any?

Here is a link to my page showing the trailing arm brackets in action. I think if this suspension works on the older trucks it would open up alot of options for the DIY builders. No more dakota,volare, MII, fatman suspensions to weld in.

I have been lurking here a while and learned hopefully more that I will ever need to use. Lots of bright people on here!
I have been looking to use the newer CV front end on a 57-60 F100. As has been mentioned, the problem looks to be with the spindle. So my question would be to the Ford Parts guys here, is there a spindle that would fit between the control arms/ball joints that has less off set than the CV piece? And if there is one, couldn't we just use what ever brake assembly fits the new spindle with less off set. I don't have a CV around to be measuring.
Just my two Cents worth of speculation.
Thanks,

I don’t think it is the spindle as such, it’s the A arm length, but that is a big can of worms. Look again at this post especially the picture of the A arm and spindle.
have you read this post;

F1 thanks for the reply. It seems that the A arm length is fixed due to having the spring located in it. But the spindle looked like it was designed to move the rotor further out probably for handling (wider is better). I know that it is a front steer, so the potential replacement spindles would have to have to be front steer as well. Looking closely at the pic, it just seems to me that the rotor is considerably further away from the ball joint than the older models I am used to. Even my 99 F150 doesn't have them that far out. If this doesn't work, it may be a frame transplant from a newer model Ford truck.
I wish I had more wrecking yards near by, it would make for a great field trip.
edit: I did check out Romak's build, it is one of several that got me thinking about this. He used the late model Bullitt wheels that have the negative off set. They look good, but I want to use steel wheels and still keep the rubber out of the fender.
Thanks again for the response.
