I recently bought a new 2008 F250 where there is a phone symbol on the radio. I can get my phone to detect the radio but dont know how to sync the two. Any ideas how to use this feature?

 

Does it not cover it in the owners manual for the truck?

 

No, it merely mentions the phone option, just not how to connect to it.

 

Ummm. Thats odd. I do know that not all cell phones are compatible with the factory bluetooth. Just talked to a friend yesterday that had his Acura TL in for just that. He said that he could make a call through the system but could not answer one. They told him his phone was not one of the ones Acura had set up to accept. You should be able to go into the system and have it give you the option to select the phone you have and hopefully yours is listed.

Adding a new phone to SYNC
Note: This is a speed dependent feature. For your safety, this procedure cannot be completed if the vehicle is traveling at speeds faster than 3 mph (5 km/h).
Note: SYNC can store up to 12 previously paired phones.
This feature allows you to add (pair) a new Bluetooth enabled phone to
SYNC. To access:

1. Press the PHONE hard button on the navigation system.
2. Select the ‘Settings’ tab on the touchscreen.
3. Select ‘Add’.
4. When prompted on your phone’s display, enter the PIN provided by SYNC.

Depending on your phone’s capability, you may be prompted with additional options from your phone or SYNC such as downloading the phone book/call history and setting a favorite.

 

Thanks for the quick responses. Mine is not a sync system. On the right side of the radio over the "aux" button is one labeled "Phone". Does it set up the same way?

 

KC...now this is what you call service with a smile. I knew someone with the goods would come along a help.

 

Gotcha...sorry, I guess I jumped the gun there.

It is my understanding that this button is reserved for use with certain aftermarket phone kits--like the Mobile-Ease Hands Free System that Ford sells. Without one of these kits, the button does nothing of value.

You say that your phone sees the radio, does it ask for a PIN when you try to connect, or does it not even connect?
