What's your setup and what kind of mileage are you getting? Any info such as chips/tuners, miles, rear axle ratio/tire size is appreciated.

'03 Dodge HEMI 4x4, 5 sp auto, 3.55 and 275/70/17 MTR's - Bad
'69 F-250 with warmed over 390, 2500 stall, 3.54 rears and 265/70/16's - Worse

Well, basically a stock 06 6.0, no tuners or anything. But, I can pull down around 22-23 mpg if I'm on flat and level around 65mph. I have the 3.73 limited slip out back, and use Stanadyne year around. Oh, yeah, factory 20" wheels also!

 

I'm the newbie around here when it comes to diesels... Mine is (and from what I've heard and read will always be) a stock 6.4, 5spd Auto, 3.73 gears, 20" wheels. I'm only at 1400 miles on the truck. The best I've seen so far is around 17mpg at 65. I'm averaging around 14.5 in my commuting... half of that is at 75, some is at 65, and some is in-town. I have been adding PS (I think that's what it's called) fuel treatment/cetane boost.

Haven't towed anything yet...

 

You'll see that mileage start to go up soon Rob. I want to get a pic of yours and mine nose to nose at the G2G!!

 

I figure it will go up some, but it will never be as good as the 6.0. The amount of crap that they had to add to the 6.4 for the new EPA regs is just crazy.

That'll be a cool picture! I still like the overall look of your truck better... I can't get used to the goodfy looking headlight setup on the 08.

 

I've heard that about the 6.4, too much emissions crap. I'm used to the new look now, but now I can't stand the new -150's

 

EPA is getting rediculous as far as I'm concerned. They're so concerned about emissions it's killing mileage, which seems like an oxymoron to me. I'm really interested in what the new diesels will do when they've got some miles on them. So far around 14-16 is all I've seen or heard from the guys with '07 and up.

I'm running the all mighty 7.3 powerstroke, cold air intake, wicked wheel, edge evolution programmer, 4 inch turbo back exhaust, getting ready to buy a dp tuner. I get about 14 in town with 35's and 16 with 33's. I get about 18-20 on the freeway with 35's. Only has 189,000 miles.

 

Mine is a '01 7.3 supercab, 4x4 auto and is stock running 235/85/16 tires. 3.73 diff. I get about 15 mixed driving in the winter on winter blend with diesel kleen. The last tank included a fair amount of highway/interstate driving and it was up to 18. On the highway if I hold the rpm's to 2000 or abouts I get that or better on summer fuel. I've done 20-21 on long trips without a load. Pulling a heavy old 5th wheel camper it does around 12 if I keep speed to 65 or less.

 

Mine is a 97 2.3L 4-banger w/ 5 speed rolling on 14" factory rubbers low air pressure with worn out exahust and illigally removed catalytic converter and needs an oil change. i get about 23mpg all the time as i'm city/hwy/gravel/fields.. i have to hammer down just to get moving. usually to the floor if not on the hwy. lol

 

This is about what I was figuring. I'm looking at about a 30 mile drive one way to work when I'm done with school and I think 12-13 mpg is gonna get old fast, however, maybe it'll be better than I thought. We'll see. I bumped 14.2 on the overhead console yesterday on our junkyard trip.

I get about 18MPG on my 2003 PSD. 7.3 Reg cab. On my Ranger I get about 25-30 MPG depending what Im doing with it. Yeh Jake I bet that hemi is to easy to get on the foot pedal an let loose. BTW Pat I love the look off the new 150s. Test drove one the other day there pretty sweet.

Jake, if you don't need a pickup for work, pick up a beater econobox or older excort that gets close to 30 and drive it to work. That is what I drive most of the time. Of course, I'm approaching geezerhood and don't have to impress the ladies. Its a 95 yota corolla with 222000 miles but still averages 28-30 mpg mostly town with some highway.

 

You know, It will probably grow on me. It was the same way with the 08 and up Super Duty's. Couldn't stand them when they first came out, with the radical headlight arrangement, but now I like them (not as much as mine, of course!!).

 

Pat you will love the way the new headlights light up the road on the 250s. Much better then your truck or mine IMO. It took me awhile to get used to them to.

Oh BTW Jake a Ranger would fit the bill perfectly. I got mine to save fuel. Its a 2007 XL which is the cheapest model available, No frills. The 4 cylinder 2wd will get you the mileage. The 4wd will not near as good. Like I said 26 most off the time. 30 with the right conditions.
