How do I reset the oil reminder light?
#1
#3
An oil change is required whenever indicated by the message center and
according to the recommended maintenance schedule. USE ONLY
RECOMMENDED ENGINE OILS.
To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
[approximately 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or 180 days] perform the
following:
1. Press and release the RESET
stem to display “OIL LIFE = XXX%
HOLD RESET = NEW”.
2. Press and hold the RESET stem
for 2 seconds and release. Oil life is
set to XX% and “OIL LIFE SET TO
XX%” is displayed.
Note: Oil Life Start Value of 100% equals 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or
180 days. For example, setting Oil Life Start Value to 60% sets the Oil
Life Start Value to 3,000 miles (4,828 km) and 120 days.

Timely post----I am just going through my first reminder display on my 07 expy EL. What a PIA if you dont reset.
I wonder if it will allow you to set at 150 % (since you can set for less mileage) for berry's 7500 miles I am thinking about saving my beer money and go for something like Amsoil which means I will want more than 5K miles myself.

I see absolutely no reason you can use Ford semi-synthetic that came with the truck and do 7500 miles with an 07 model year.
You can't reset your oil life to 150 %. I guess you can do the sticker thing in the windshield with the appropriate mileage.

Tx berry---- I am not completely sold on the Amsoil yet. Not that it isnt a good oil----right, lets not get that one going . Out of all the old clunkers I have made last for years, I have never gotten rid of one because of worn out engines, its the other stuff that wears you out trying to keep working. I have also never been a religous oil changer, I do watch the oil, but I would be embarassed to tell how long some of mine have gone. None of my later models get oil at 3k or even 5k. The 07 will probably stay on synthetic (MC) and go for 7500.

I have considered going 7500 on my 07, but I envision a bad ring or worse at some point and Ford wants to see my records in order for the ESP to cover it. In 100k miles, I will have paid for 20 oil changes. If I went 7500 miles I would have done about 14. 6 oil changes costs around $240 at my dealer. I'm not risking the $1500 I just spend on am ESP for those savings.

I am not having any luck with the reset procedure. I thought I knew a little about computers etc, even did the PSOM reset for different tires on my 93 bronco---apparently I dont know as much as I thought I did .
Followed the previous post and the instructions on P.117-119. The display does not seem to want to toggle to the display to reset the oil life indication. 07 Expy EB EL, key on (only way to illuminate display).
At each "key on" for cranking, that #### oil change display has to be reset. If the Expy were older, the BFH might be helpful

I had hoped the 08's manual was slightly different (tx berry1234).
I went out again this AM and tried with PP 117-119 in hand (07 manual), still no luck. First of all, I do not see a "reset stem". I expected a stem like the old Odometer reset on the panel face-----"aint" none! The only reset I find is the push button on the info panel face. I can access the menu's and displays, and scroll through the systems it checks, but I cannot get it to toggle to the "oil life" reset part.
The procedure berry just posted looks slightly different, so I will print it out and try again---. Kinda embarassing------I build my own computers

It Worked!
Hitting the "setup" button (not the reset button) twice toggled it right to the "oil Life" menu and then hitting the
"reset" button set it to 100%. Very simple---.
That really frosts my hindquarters . All the time and effort I wasted following a Mfg's book procedure for naught. I suspected from the start, that I was not getting into the programing mode for the system. When I did the "PSOM" procedure on my 93, it required a ground clip to a connector under the glove compartment to access the program. Per this procedure, I could never get "HOLD RESET FOR SETUP MENU".
At any rate, Thanks berry1234. If you dont mind, where did you find the procedure you gave us? Sure hope I didnt miss it in the book. What this does, is make me doubt the whole manual for this 07

I also was confused by the book and messed around until I got that to come up. I have forgotten it 3 times and the dealer has never reset it for me. I am not one to read manuals until after something is broke....
