Build Your Own Truck

We all have our own personal loyalties to certain brands, parts, makes, and models.

So, the question below is posted JUST FOR FUN.

Assuming that all parts could simply be connected without any adapters whatsoever (there is a Johnny Cash song running through my mind right now):

If you could build your own truck, using any parts from any manufacturer (regardless of make or model) what parts would you use, and why?

Well I'm gonna start off by breaking party lines and go with a P-pumped Cummins 12 valve with a ZF-6 tranny, but mount it on a 97 Ford F-350 frame. High pinion D60 up front, with a D80 rearend. Then put a singlecab longbed with a flatbed on it. Mild 4'' lift 35'' boggers. The ultimate ranchtruck.

I would start with a 77 F-150 4x4. Add in a ford 427 medium riser, granny low 4 speed. Dana 44 in the front with a ford 9" in the rear.

Sticking with ford here, how about a real Ranger GT, with early 90s mustang GT 5.0 5spd drive train, short bed 2wd with 4 wheel discs....Done cleanly as if it just left the factory.

Well, you stole my engine and trans choices, but you can keep the frame. I'll stuff mine into a 70 F250 Sport Custom 4x4, but with a mated transfer case, crossover power steering, and D60s front and rear turning 36" Goodyear MT/Rs through selectable lockers. Receivers front and rear with Anderson connectors to handle 9-12k winches, and dual batteries with a large-frame 160amp alternator.
An actual stereo system integrated into the truck, and it's all set to go. Well, all set after a nice two-tone paint job with Boxwood Green below the trim, and Diamond Green above it.

My Ideal Truck would be A new F100:

4000lbs MAX Curb Weight +- options, 250Hp Direct injected V6, Reg Cab, Scab option With 6.5'-8' box. Payload in the 1500lb range, around 7500 towing. 6 speed auto & 6Speed man.
NO CREW CAB, If You want a commuter truck, Buy a 2009 6500 lb F150!

It's gotta have simple, comfortable seating, CC,PW,PL,PM,AC available.
A couple of useful gages.
Go back to 16" wheels, there's absolutely no need for anything larger.
Box rails low enough to reach over, while standing on the ground. So We won't need no stinking tailgate steps/side box steps just to use the box.

Another choice would be a new ranger 4x4 4 door supercab. Ford 300 I-6 and 6 speed manual trans. Dana 44 front, with 32 spline 8.8 in the rear with 4:10 gears and detroit locker. Factory high boy with 33x12.50 BFG AT KO's. Manual t-case and hubs.
