? Ford vs. Toyota ?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Nov-02 AT 00:01 AM (EST)]A Tug-O-War??? Cool :-)

What's the weight differential and in who's favor? To my way of thinking the heavier beast would have a better than even shot...

Got Lead (plates)..? ~LOL~

Maybe I'm off base...

80 F250 Ranger 4X4 cab on 87 Chassis --
1984 351W - Mallory Uni-Lite, MSD wires, Offy intake, 600 Holley, K&N filter, Shorty headers - Dual Exhaust with twin Flowmaster 50's, C-6 trans, American Racing 767's 33x12.5x16.5 sneakers--

Alpine stereo with 400W Jensen Amp and 2 x 300 Watt "boom boxes" behind seat - 2 x 180 watt Xplod's in the doors..

Cybertaz, I think it will be a weight/traction issue. I'm certain the 300I6 will pull harder than a toyota. But if you don't have enough weight for your tires to bite, he will drag you backwards while all of your tires are spinning. Agree to the pull, but show up with about 1000 lbs of junk in the back of your truck. DF

Weight, Traction, and torque. That's what you need. The weight needs to be directly over the axles and you need traction to pull. If you are going to do this on pavement, then you need more surface area of rubber on the pavement, i.e. slicks. If you are doing this on the dirt, then you need an aggressive tire like a Super Swamper Bogger or something with a chevron pattern. In both cases, air-down your tires to make the contact patches larger. You'll rip the frame out from underneath that 'yota.

Do it, just make sure you get pictures!! I love to see ripped up drive train pictures!!

Do these types of posts ever go anywhere? Seems there is always a lot of talk but it seems they never happen. :-X23

I say post pics then talk about it, theory is great, but I like real life expierences.

Yeah, just be careful on his truck. Remember, Toyotas are manufactured from recycled soup cans and junk aluminum. You'll twist his chassis up pretty good if he starts yankin' on the chain.

:-X12

The 300 I-6 is a torque monster. The Bronco is much heavier too. There is no way you shouldn't be able to pull him around like he's on a lawn mower.

Well, he might have an advantage if it has a locker. Give yourself one, deflate your tires to about 15 psi before the pull.

i was thinking--- you should "tell" him you are going to use four- high to get your speed up, just to make him think he should too.

then when he is losing power and gear ratio, your truck is already locked into four LOW to give you extra pulling power.

you might want to have a friend he trusts, pull up his parking brake alittle bit

I can't believe you guys even think this is going to be a contest. We're talking about a Toyota Tacoma vs. a full-size Ford Bronco, right? I watched my brother destroy a Toyota in a pulling contest a few weeks ago...and my brother drives a V6 Chevy S10! This guy has a Bronco with a 300 cubic inch motor and lots more weight. This should not even be a contest. That toyota is toast.

In fact, I honestly would not be surprised if this guy could pull that toyota in 2-wheel-drive. No kidding.
