camshaft sensor

Hi folks i bought a 1994 ford explorer new got 40000 miles on it now i need a camshaft sensor as i get a code 214 and i cant find one anywhere i wrote to ford they no longer make those i tryed local parts places still cant find one ,might anyone know a place please i could try thank you. <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

are you looking for the sensor that has 2 6mm bolts hoding it into what looks like a hacked up distributor? they should be readily available anywhere. thats a common fail part on those.

double check your build date, it may be a 95, and if so you will show the cam sensro for most aftermarket parts, just as a reference check these links out.

Smile build date says 2/1994

Ford quit making the sensor the only place i found any so far are rebuilt ones however today (2/26/2009)i called napa and they say they can order one so ill keep my fingers crossed but the rebuilt ones are the only ones i found after 3 days of looking,why would fod quit making a motor part i have no idea.

rebuilt? hmmm, are you sure its not the housing that looks like a distributor that is getting rebuilt? what you are describeing sounds like the newer styled ones

sensor

Hi folks i got the camshaft sensor from napa but i cant find a tool to install the sensor napa says they dont know anything about the tool might anyone know please thant you
