High mileage F150 and still loving it!
How many of you have high miles and still love your trucks? I just turned 160,000 and must say this is one of the best vehicles ive ever owned. Its a 2001 Supercrew 4x4 with 5.4 engine that i purchased new. I just change the original battery last year and have only done shocks, break work, new belts, tuneup, oil changes, tires, fluid changes, lower ball joints and O2 sensors. This thing is like bullet proof. I'm not noticing and oil usage between the 5K oil changes and power is as good as new. And yes i'm still using the Superchips tuner on the tow setting. My truck has hardly any squeaks and rattles and the frame and body still seem like a vault off road. My buddies 2000 chevy silverado 4x4 with 5.4 is the squeakest vehicle ive ever heard. Hes had many more problems than me (all minor stuff though) and his truck feels much older and worn out with only 130K. Anyway just curious how others feel about their trucks.

I have an 02 2wd F150 reg cab that I use as a daily driver, and this truck is turning out to be my favorite. It has 107,000 on the V6 and it does great with a thousand pound daily payload.
I always change the engine oil at 3,000 miles (Motorcraft oil and filter) and the engine really likes it.
I still feel that this era truck is the best looking (except for dentsides) so far.
Right now I am saving some money to buy an aftermarket auto tranny oil pan with a drain. Removing that pan gets too messy for me, and it may save time in the long run.
Other than that, this truck is great.

Mine has over 230,000(actually around 250,000) miles and still runs pretty good. Ive done most of the normal maintenance items. The tranny is getting real tired though.
Also Chevy doesnt have a 5.4, his truck would have the 5.3.
Khamda I put a tranny pan plug in for under $10, which is much much cheaper than a tranny pan with a plug in it. I used the B&M tranny pan plug kit, it cost me like $9 to ship it to my house from Summit Racing.

Ive got 189,000 on my '99. All in all, its been a good truck. Its got the headgasket oil leak on the passenger side of the motor that they all had and the rear window leaks a little bit, but my truck has been good to me.
I bought it in '01 with 67,500 miles on it and in that time Ive had to replace 3 ignition coils, had 1 sparkplug eject, replace 1 driver's side inner tierod end, replace the spare tire holder (gear broke inside the winch), replaced the temp control **** for the HVAC control, replace the driver's side power window switch (the buttons on the interior side of the door), installed grease fittings in the lower ball joints to make them stop squeaking and done the routine maintenance (tires, shocks, spark plugs).
This spring its getting a new serpentie belt (the one thats on it squeaks sometimes, but its been on there for over 4 years now).
All in all though, I cant really complain and if something happened that forced me to buy a different truck, it would probably be another F-150.
My truck is far from perfect, but it has served me well.

I am considering welding a nut to the pan and finding an engine oil plug. I still have 24,000 miles to go until the next tranny oil change!

yeah these trucks are awesome. My buddies 2000 Chevy with the 5.3 is still in pretty good shape to but it only has 130K and feels like its got over 200K. He's already starting to look over the fence at Ford. I'll bet he buys a new F150 this fall. He's trying to hold his chin up but its very obvious he's not totally happy with his chevy. By the way he babbies his truck so much. When we go hunting guess whos truck goes through the woods to get the deer. No theres now bowtie on the front....

Only at 110K myself by loving my 2001 CC, 5.4 F150. I was just marveling the other day... My last decent tow vehicle was a 1992 Bronco with a 351. I love the Windsors but that 351 had more problems, got worse fuel economy, and was not as powerful as my 5.4
