65 F100 4.6/AOD swap

I have always wanted another 65 as that was my first truck. I finally found a mostly rust free 65 short bed last fall. Now I have the idea that a 4.6 auto would make a really nice driver out of the old truck.

Has anyone else tried or seen this swap done? I bought a wire harness from a place called the Detail Zone as painless doesn't do 4.6 wiring yet.

Just curious to see what others have done with these trucks

Chuck I have a friend on the south side of Raleigh that has one of those HP Lincoln 4.6s in a 65. Shoot me a mail through my profile and I will help you get in contact with him.

I completed the swap last fall and my old pickup runs great with that engine. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try it. The link 65F100 posted above was a brief write up I made on the swap as the projected started until the end. If you have any other questions let me know and I will do my best to answer them. Good luck on your swap and keep us posted on the progress you make with your project.

Thanks Jeff. Glad to hear it works well. I have a 200 F 150 with the 4.6 and I love it. I will probably have some questions when I start the project. Still have a few unfinished projects in front of it and a saw a 61 econoline truck today that may have to come home with me. I guess youcan never have too many projects

Oh yes you can, but don't ask me how I know.

Limit yourself to one and you may complete it.
