Exclamation Engine swap from a 1984 F150 302

Don't know if you will be able to answer this, but i wanna check the compatibility Of this 302 engine from a 1984 for my 1994 Both are 302 the '84 has a carburetor mine is EFI ( i know the intakes will need to be changed, and also the water pumps on the '84 will need to be changed, unsure of the timming cover.) or if i will be able to use my electronics EI: Sensors on the older style 302.........
The transmission is a AOD Overdrive unit and the truck is 2wheel drive.
Rebuilding this engine (In 1994) wont be happening has three rods knocking to come out......doesn't smoke tho so if i need to use the heads to help the conversion over i would need to know that as well....

Years ago i would have been able to answer my own Question but i haven't dealt in fords in a long time now............
Don't have alot of money but i found a decent running 302 for 100 bucks

Thanks for any help on this.
Mike

Keep looking for a FI 5.0 from a 94-96, then its just plug and play! Way to much work to put that carbed 302 in. Save yourself a headache.

if you do decide to use that 84 engine you will need to change the timing chain cover, i had to do this when i swapped a 85 302 into my 1991. other than that it wasnt too difficult to swap everything over. all the sensors carried over with my 85 not sure if they would with a 84 but would recommend taking pictures off the electronics in the 94 before swapping everything out so you know exactly how it was all setup

That motor will work, the block and head dimensions never changed on the 302 so the intake, timing cover and water pump, accessory brackets and everything else you strip off your motor will bolt right on. And yes it will run on the EFI system too, just won't be quite as powerful as your '94 when it was in good running order.
