I'm stuck between the 04-08 and the 09+. The real hang up is the amount of interior space. Most notably, the rear seat/leg room, as I just had a kid recently. The 6.5' bed would also be great, but they are tough to find.

 

I've got a almost 4 year old (43" tall) and he fits in the back seat of my ext. cab just fine with his booster seat. About the same amount of leg room as my wife's 2010 Escape back seat. It's a lot easier to find extended cabs with the 6.5' bed.

 

Agreed, and I am certainly not closed to that idea. I will be looking for the best deal I can at the time. One can definitely save some money going to an extended cab as opposed to a crew cab, both in the initial purchase, and gas(albeit minimal). If I go with an extended cab, I think I will be going toward a 2009+, as the interior space went up a little.

 

I would love to get into a newer truck with the Ecoboost motor. Not impressed with the 5.4 so far regarding power and economy. But, I got a great deal on the truck, about $4k below blue book with only 25k miles.

I'd trade up to an Ecoboost in a heartbeat if my wife would let me. She says I'm stuck with this one for a while.

 

I rented an ecoboost crew cab two summers ago, and the thing I was most impressed by was the interior room and comfort. The back seat was more accommodating than an Audi A8L, or similar long wheelbase car. Easily having kids in the backseat without them being able to kick the front seat. Or at least that's how it seemed. The motor was good, but it was more than likely geared for highway cruising, so nothing real notable.

I've always liked the red and black color scheme. I think it stems from my admiration of Michael Jordan, and they were my high school colors.
