4X4 - LOW RANGE not working

4X4 works but not the LOW RANGE. What are the usual suspects in this situation ?

thanks

Is your truck manual or electric shift?
Are you following the correct procedure for shifting into 4LOW?

What do you mean it doesnt work? The t-case shifter on my truck has seized up before. It would go into 4 hi, but the shifter would not push down to go into N or 4 low. If this is the case, lube the linkage underneath the cab and try to work it back and forth. The shifter had to be removed to get it freed up on my truck. Make sure to lube these linkages frequently, especially if you do not use 4 low a lot. But this depends on whether or not you have a manual shifter, like the last poster said. Hope this helps.

More info is needed. Push button, or manual. Borg Warner or New Proces. If it's electric, look for a wire off at the servo motor. And it has to be stopped and in neutral.

(Not trying to hijack the thread)
I am having the same problem with my low range. It is a push button on the dash. The 4x4 works excellent but the 4low does not work, no clicking nothing. I have tired it in neutral(not moving) with foot on brake, in park and nothing works. Its not that big a deal but I would like to get it working. I do have the ABS disconnected because the fluid level sensor on the master cylinder is bad, could this be the problem?

If you have an electric shift and it works in 4-HI but not 4-LO and you are in neutral and stopped when trying to go to 4-LO, then I would suspect the MLPS is out of adjustment or is bad.

I never read individual post titles.

Are you in neutral when you shift to 4LO?

i tried that and could never get it in 4hi, it was 2, n, or 4lo. way too hard to find the detents

push button with no 4lo is probly the shift motor. the only reason i wish my truck was push button is because that motor is 1/3 the price of the goddam manual shift lever.

If it's the motor, you might be better off buying a new one as compared to going to a boneyard like I did. They gave me one for a Bronco, assured me it would work, and it didn't. Since I'm so stubborn about taking my vehicles to someone else to work on, I spent many countless hours messing with it, and never could get it to go. Finally took it to a shop and they put a new motor in, and I had 4X4 again.
