traction control & abs issues

I recently had an issue where the traction control light started blinking, and when you hit the brakes the anti-lock was kicking in on our 08. Road conditions were dry and normal. Dealer said it might be the abs module, he had another 08 do the same thing. It only did it a few times for about 30 seconds each time. They replaced the abs module under warranty, and two weeks later it did the same thing. Any body else have this problem? They are going to keep it all day monday to try to get it to do it and see if it throws a code. There is apparently a TSB that says to replace the abs module, so maybe they just got a defective replacement. I wanted to see if anybody else experienced this and what was the cause/solution.

I had this issue within about 2 months of wonership...I was told no code so just deal with it until it throws a code. I had the TSB done to the tranny a fews later and the problem never reappeared. It sure is scary when it happened. I felt like I had no brakes then some brakes and the no brakes. I am really glad I had no one around the first time it happend. Good luck on the TSB. I have no idea why the tranny TSB fix may have influenced this issue vanishing...sorry but I do feel your pain.

I was reading the owners manual the other day to figure out how to turn the traction control off, so as to avoid an accident if it happened again. I ran across the part where it talks about the traction control system doing a "self test" of sorts. The test description sounded exactly like what was happening, only the test should only happen at slow speeds, such as leaving the driveway, not at 45 mph approaching a red light as we experienced. It has not done it in over a month, so maybe it wont again, atleast I hope.

I have had my 07 and 08 do this one time. Brakes pulsed, light flashed. Both times I was turning and accelerating at about 15mph. As with most Ford electronics, I chalk it up to a brain fart.

Berry1234, I think your's might be proper system functions. I read in the manual about the stability control and it mentions about strong turns that the stability control and yaw function might be fooled into thinking your slipping. That you might feel brake pulse and the traction light would flash.

Well turning on level ground at 15mph is not something traction control needs to be turned on for, so it's not what I would consider proper function. Maybe the system glitched, like I have seen the radio, A/C, Tachometer, etc. do on at least one occasion.

has your radio cut out on you yet? Twice mine has stopped functioning, the display went blank except for the station # and then came back on in a couple seconds. Acted like a short or loose connection somewhere. As far as your traction control coming on at 15 going around a corner, that is much more like what the manual describes then what mine was doing. My traction control was bugging out on me when I hit the brakes going down the road, once when a car jumped in front of us. Hit the brakes, not too hard, and the traction control light blinks, the anti lock kicks in. Had to swerve in to the next lane so we wouldn't hit the guy. All of this in dry road conditions. There apparently is a TSB on it, but it wont store a code, so basically we are out of luck.
