Ford's new engines
Does anyone have any inside info on the new 5.0L Coyote engine and the 6.2L Boss aside from what is being reported in Left Lane?
I was wondering if the 5.0 is the same block casting as the old 302 or is it a slightly different displacement?
The article is reporting that it will have 4 valves per cylinder. Why develop a new motor when the 5.4L could have been adapted to run 4 valves per cylinder?
The Ecoboost appears to promise the same numbers as the 5.0L, so whats the point?

The 5.0 will not be the same block as the old 302...its going to be a new modular motor...not a pushrod type....It will be without the turbos...there by reducing the maintanance or repair expenses over the turbo v-6 eco boost...which is the reason for offering both....i'm guessing at this...but better mileage than the 5.4 hence the retirement of it.....and not as good of mileage as the eco boost v-6....therefore a reason for it.....
