Heated tailgate option

Have you heard that Ch**y's got the new "Heated Tailgate" option available for the 2001 model year? ;-)

So your hands won't freeze while you're pushing it! :7

Yup ! I heard about the heated tailgate too. What they did was route the exhaust pipe through a heat exchanger sandwiched into the tail gate. The flex hoses on each side of the tail gate will be the first thing to fail on the idea though. ;=)

Nope, I think that Ford's should have heated tailgate, or bumper. That way, when I am sitting there laughing at the chev guy that won't start, or got stuck, etc, etc, I won't get cold!!!! Cause ya know they are going to be there a while!

Well if they heat the tailgate via the exhaust they're gonna have some pretty cold hands considering they'll only run when it's warm out!:->

Heated tailgate option

Typical General Maintenence (GM) product. We're talking about the same people who think it's necessary to put a windshield wiper sensor on the newer caddys. The windshield wiper goes on whenever the sensor on the windshield detects moisture. Duh!!If you can't figure out it's raining and need to turn on the windshield wipers, you're either too stupid or to blind to drive. I guess you don't want to push a cold tailgate on your C#$#$y truck when trying to push it onto the shoulder of the road. I've had frostbite before, it doesn't feel good. Ha Ha !

Don't forget that infamous Chevy recall of the adjustable temp heated gas tank option(standard on the diesels). Too many people tried to use the tank as a hot plate for tailgate parties! Ha!

OK, Heated tailgate via exhaust. Now, let's say you put a cap on that sucker. I would hate to be riding in the back of that truck when the exhaust heater begins to fail. Nothing like hauling a load of lethal exhaust. It could make its way into the cab if both the cab and cap have rear split window openings and lets just say that they were both open. Hmmm.

If car companies would stop putting all this unnnecessary junk on cars they would be so much less expensive and be much cheaper in the long run cause all that extra electrical/computer/heaters/airbags is just more stuff to break down the line. I dont know what it will be like in 30 years when some one tries to restore a current model vehicle. KEEP IT SIMPLE!!
