02 Explorer P1400 code?

Well just had my wifes 02 XLT 4.6, V8, 4x4 Explorer at the dealer ship for a regulator assembly that controls the driver side window. It quite working and I also had the right rear wheel bearing replaced. Well I went to drive it this morning, which I rarely do and the service engine light came on while driving. I pulled into an Auto Zone to pull the code. P1400 Aux Emission Control. They had no idea what it would be! I was hoping someone here could help.

I guess I should have done a search first. It looks like the DPFE sensor is the place to start with the P1400 code. My local Napa is closed today so I will try them on Friday. What does DPFE stand for? Not even sure what it looks like & any tips on changing one out? Thanks

I think you are on the right track. What you are looking for is the Differential Pressure Feedback Electronic sensor.
Never had to mess with one so don`t know where it is but as I understand it you unplug one and plug the new one in. Good luck.

Have NAPA read your code so you can verify it.

I already had AutoZone read the code. What would Napa be able to tell me differently? Thanks

Autozone has DPFE sensors. It is a common Ford problem.

I usually hang out in the 97-03 F150 forums. These models are famous for DPFE issues and the experience there indicates that the Motorcraft sensors greatly outlast the NAPA/AZ/etc replacements.

Sorry I didn't catch you in time. You're good for the present but your NAPA version will fail much sooner than the Motorcraft. I'm a newbie on the Exploder forums, don't have one yet but planning to.

Should have purchased one at Autozone, since you were there anyway.

Looking to see if AutoZone had MOTORCRAFT (or any) sensors returned this:

EGR Valve Pressure Sensor
We're sorry, but there are no results in this parts category for your 2002 Ford Truck Explorer 4WD 4.6L EFI .

Buy ONLY Motorcraft DPFE Sensors which would be:
DPFE4 EGR Pressure Sensor Ford # 4U7E-9J460AA

You can look up your MOTORCRAFT parts here:
http://www.motorcraft.com/default.asp?T=3&PageID=0

or from one of the vendors here on FTE:

Silver State Ford Parts Genuine Ford Truck Parts Lincoln Mercury Parts OEM Ford Parts and Accessories
Description Year MSRP Price Core Price Your Price
Pressure sensor 02-03 $76.40 $40.67
