Hey, welcome. I'm just as new to the forums as you, but I've grown up with Fords. I'm from west central MN, but I'm going to college in northwest MN at UMC currently. What kind of guidance are you looking for?

Well, if you get your problems worked out you have a very solid vehicle right there. If you haven't heard, the 300 six is a very durable engine. Get that pickup back into shape and keep it maintained it will last you a long time.

I looked at your other posts to try and figure out some of your problems. If you didn't have that backfire before you did the carb rebuild it is likely something might have happened when you put it back together. However, if you haven't adjusted the idle mixture screw any, that could be a cause for an off-idle popping noise your hearing. The idle mixture screw is at the base of the carb, can usually be ballparked by hearing. Get the truck up to operating temp and turn that screw about 3-4 turns out, begin turning in until it starts to run rough, stop and back out 1/8-1/4 turn or so.

I rebuilt one of those carbs this summer on an '85 F-150 I6 4-spd 4x4 just like yours, runs great. I upgraded to a '95 F-250 Powerstroke 5-speed 4x4, so my old pickup is on the market. If I get some time maybe I could give you a hand on getting her tuned up good.

I'll send you a PM of my craigslist listing. This week will be busy, but if I'm on campus this weekend I should be able to give a hand then, maybe sooner if it works out.

Well, turns out I can't send PM's yet so here it is.
