360 to 351W question. (1977 F150)
I've been reading around and getting some helpful information, but I just want to clarify.
From what I understand, the 360 engine perches will NOT work with my 351W. (Because they sit too high, and are above the crossmember instead of behind it?)
I've read that the 302 perches will work. I have a 2WD parts truck here with a 302 in it. Will I be able to use these in place of the 360 perches to house my 351W?
If not, I have 2 other trucks here with 351M's in them. Will these perches work for my 351W?
The 351 is currently installed in a truck that had a 300-6 in it. The previous owners moved the I6 perches back and dropped a 302 in. I removed that and the 351W bolted up fine...but seems to sit awkwardly.
So be sure I'm getting it right - I'm putting a 351W into a truck that has a 360. I have trucks with 300-6 perches, 302 perches and 351M perches. What do I need to do? :-)
Thanks!

92 302 to 75 F150
I am near the same.
92 302, AOT 3PSD,OD into a 75 F150
Pulled the 390 C6...dropped in the 302 to take a view.
On the hunt for mounting accessories....Looks about 5-1/2" shorter than the older center to transmission...this would mean that the motor mounts are behind as you say.
Much appreciated to keep me posted should you have any progress.

From what I understand, the 300-6 perches are the same as the 360 perches, and are both placed above the crossmember rather than behind it. I currently have the 351W in a truck that had a 300-6...the perches were just moved back behind the crossmember. Problem is, the engine seems to sit higher than it's supposed to.
So when I build this new truck, putting the 351W in place of the 360, I'm sure it will fit if I move those 360 perches back, but I think I'll be in the same boat with the engine sitting to high. I'm hoping I can take either the 302 or 351M perches from other trucks and use those, putting the engine where it's supposed to be.
As far as the 302 HP/weight - the 351W is my baby. I wouldn't trade it for any other Ford motor, as they've been my pride and joy since I've toyed with vehicles. :-) It's currently coupled with a 4 speed. I'm also running 40" tires right now.
Unfortunately, I live in cold-weather-country, and I don't have the luxury of a garage. I'm collecting loads of information and keeping it here for reference, and will be doing a frame up resto starting next summer.

I do have a 78 with 302 perches, the engine removed. I just wanted to clarify whether or not those would work. (99% sure they will, but...)
Boy, that would make things smooth. haha

An update for ok2sendme:
I was outside for a while today getting one of the trucks running, and while out there I checked the perches.
302 perches from a 73-9 truck won't work. Since this generation never produced a 4X4 with a 302, the only option is the 2WD perches...and those are nowhere near right.
So to do it right, it looks like I'm going to have to use the 351M perches I have. I already know the 300-6/360/390/etc ones won't work (or will work, but the motor sits high and at an angle) so it leaves me with the 351M's.
