I can jump the starter under the truck, and start it. Sometimesthe key works after the truck has been running a few mins. But if I let it sit for an hour or so, I have to go under the truck and jump it at the starter.
Did you check the 30 amp fuse? It's F2-113, Bottom row left hand side 2nd from the end. They are the slow blow type.... try switching it out withanother one and see if that fixes it, there is a starter relay, It's in the central junction box, up under the brake pedal area on the fire wall.
I'm not saying it's a blown fuse but a damaged one, just barely making contact some of the time. I had a simular incident with a fuel pump fuse on a gasser, I replaced the fuel pump only to find out it wasn't bad but that 90 cent fuse was....... easy check
Is this for a standard or auto? Another area you might check is the clutch/netural switch ...... if it's auto try moving the gearshift lever as you try and start it (guessing here)
Fuse is good. Checked the relay, its clicking when I turn the key.
Let me step back a sec and tell you the the starter was replaced 1 week ago.
This might be in the starter or loose connection, but this will have to wait till the AM.
