Baltimore
Hey all! I've been traveling to the Baltimore/Glen Burnie area of MD lately and will be for a while. Just wondering whats around that area to do when Im not working. I was thinking about site seeing around the bay or the beaches but unsure of how to get there. I hate riding around looking at a map like an idiot. Im staying off Rt. 10 in Glen Burnie, any ideas would be appreciated!

OH NO!!!!!!! How long is traffic usually bad after a game? Im gonna be comming up monday getting in the area about 1pm. And thanks for the welcome. I live in VA, but recently started working off and on in this area. I did hear a lot about the inner harbor area last time I was there. Are the Historic sites worth seeing? I like that kind of stuff, but dont want to expect more than what it is. How far is the Aquarium from Rt. 10? Is that like Ripley's Aquarium?I appreciate your help!

Hello.
Annapolis would also be a nice place to visit. Very picturesque. Beautiful waterfront area. The Naval Academy. Take Rt 10 south to RT 2 (Gov. Ritchie Hwy). Go south on Rt 2 toward Annapolis. Rt 2 will lead you to an overlook that provides a wonderful view of the Academy and Severn River. Also in the Annapolis are, there is Sandy Point State Park at the west entrance to the Bay Bridge on US 50. It will give a nice view of the bridge and put you at the shore of the Chesapeake Bay. IIRC, there is a cost to enter.
To get to the "real" beach, follow US 50 east out of Annapolis across the Bay Bridge to Ocean City. This is not a bad time of year to visit. It will be about a 2 hour drive, straight through. You may want to do some sightseeing in the towns of Cambridge and Salisbury on the way. Once in Ocean City, follow Coastal Hwy north through the Delaware beach towns of Dewey Beach and Rehobeth Beach. Take Rt 404 out of Rehobeth Beach Del back to US Rt 50.
For another nice drive you could take I-70 west off the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) to Frederick (approx. 50 min.). Take Rt 10 north to 695. Do not take the exit to the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Go left off of Rt 10. It will take about 15 minutes to get to I-70 depending on traffic. Frederick is a very nice Civil war era town with plenty of shopping and restaurants. The downtown area is nice, albeit a bit trendy. The get downtown, take the exit at the airport and MVA and follow it into town. US Rt 15 north out of Frederick will take you directly to Gettysburg, Pa. and will be a beautiful drive.
Have Fun.

Thanks guys! I have to work 2nd shift so all I have is mornings. Id rather stay close so to make sure I get back to work. I love civil war stuff and the bay. My mom grew up right outside of Baltimore but we never went there growing up. I recall one time of going, but I was so small its hard to remember anything. My grandpa would always take her and her brothers out on the bay fishing. OH well! Thanks again for all your help
