I went and doed it. I added another truck to my collection. My new daily driver is a 97 F-150, 2wd, 4.2 and an automatic. Its a really clean truck with 112K on it. I like it so far. Anyone have any anecdotes on the care and feeding of this motor? Ya'll take care and I promise to try and post a little more often.
Just check the ball joints. Watch for any signs of a coolant leak. Sometimes they timing cover or intake gaskets can leak and get into the engine. You can read all about it in the 4.2L forum. Most last a long time.
Kewl, thanks LXman. I'll keep an eye on that. My future son-in-law just had to replace his balljoints with 223K on his truck. I had to put a couple of gallons of coolant in the truck when I got it. But, it hasn't offered to go down since. Yippee skippee.
