Vacume Line Question.

On my 92 there is a small hard vacume line going to the vacume motor on the heater box. What is that little line called and where do you get it? I have never had to replace one.

Doug, put a little more info about the truck in here, engine size, auto/stick, with/without AC, etc.

hi all,
that vaccuum line controls the defroster, heat and other functions. theres another line the controls heater shut off valve. it shuts the hot water off for a/c functions. i believe. most people just trace the line down and repair it at the break with hose of the similliar size.

Thanks my friend. The line is only 1/8" O.D. and like I said it is hard plastic not rubber. I would like to keep the truck as authentic as posible that is why I am looking for exact replacement.

It goes to the truck below with A/C. I took a picture but can't seem to find the cord to download (stupid *** teenagers in this house).

Is it the white line going to a vacuum motor on the heater box in the right corner of the engine compartment? This line is famous on these Fords for rotting out and leaking.

On my 95, I too wanted to keep it looking authentic. Ford doesn't sell the stuff, not even a complete harness. I got a chunk of 1/8" air line for a semi (hard plastic real similar to our vacuum lines) and spliced it in, even reused the original end at the vacuum motor. I'd like to find some in white and better hide my splice though. I just spliced it with a short piece of rubber vacuum hose.

To replace the whole line, you'd have to cut the tape in the harness loom and go in the cab and under the dash. I'd rather leave the the harness untouched.

Yep, it is the white one. I'll try to use the 1/8" line like you say but it is too loose so I'll try to replace the whole line. My brother is going to look at it tomorrow and see if the hard line he got at Advanced( sorry George) will work.

yep,
like on a air shifter on a big rig will work! and they come in a couple of different colors as well. and you can get that air line at just about any truck parts stores or shops like inland truck parts for example. or detroit diesel, Cat,Cummins, freightliner, mack, international even. they all have shops so they have to carry that stuff.
hey pat, how's the world treating you these days?

hi pat,
we're doing allright. just been busy at work until the work at the tranny shop came to a grinding hault. i put 2 transmissions in tuesday and i went in to work wensday to a dead shop and i've been off ever since.i should put in for vacation while its slow. other than that i'm fine. i'm just on call. my wife goes to work everyday. so i use my time for chores that have to be done around the house. and chopping firewood for winter.
hey at least the wild fires haven't gotten to us yet.
sorry i haven't been around much lately.
i will make it a point to stop by and visit with you guys.
i wonder if the guy with the vaccum line issue got them sorted out yet. not to get off topic or anything.
