Power window noise?!?

When I took delivery of my 08 Expy, there was a small ding in the driver door which the dealer took care of via the services of a PDR guy. Anyway, I've just noticed that whenever I roll my window down now, there is a soft intermittent grinding or rubbing noise. This only happens when I roll the window down; going up is fine. Apart from that, the window operates normally. I was wondering how to take the door panel off to see what could be causing the problem? I'm assuming that in the process of removing the dent, the PDR guy may have bent something in the power window roller mechanism. I'm hoping that it may be something I can remedy myself without having to go to the dealership. Any advice or instruction on how to proceed?

I had a new motor put in the rear passenger door and I had the same grinding. I popped the door panel. Found the installed left the speaker wires in the path of the window. I moved the wires back to there spot, loaded the tracks up with lithium grease and it's super quiet now.

The tracks have no grease from the factory, and maybe they were designed that way, but they need them. PM me with your email and I will send you the door removal .pdfs from the manual.

Hey Berry,

Would you be able to send me those PDF's on the door removal. Both passenger and driver side windows are now squeaking. How difficult was it to remove the panel?

I tried sending you a PM but you've hit your quota! lol

Thanks.

Berry,

Thank you for the info and that tidbit about the clip near the tweeter was key, otherwise it was too easy.

Upon investigation looks as though my Expedition is suffering the frayed cable syndrome(the lower one). The cable to too far gone to add some silicone to it so I'm going to have to replace the regulator. I think what has happened is that the Expedition badge adhesive has been separating from the outside door panel letting in moisture through the alignment holes. I think I might replace the badge adhesive and use some silicone to caulk the holes.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to replace the regulator?

Also is the speaker mount part of the regulator? From Tasca it looks as though it is.

Can anyone provide me some tips or advise on a DIY replacement?

I looked online for a Haynes manual but the last edition for the Expedition was 2003+ I'm hoping not much has changed.

thanks!
