Belongs to a friend but I got a Scotts rider Kohler Commander 16. The solenoid went up on so I wired it up for a starter button direct about 2 years ago. Has been working fine. He called said it quit again smoke came from the button and wouldn't start.
Got it home, won't start with new button, solenoid is shot but if I jump it it will crank but no fire to the plug. All the safety switches seem to in the go position even the seat but still no go.

How do I jump these switches, do I just use a jumper between the 2 polls?

That's exactly what I need. Are we talking about how many polls are on the the safety switches, ignition switch or solenoid?

You can jumper the two 2 wire switches straight across to eliminate a bad switch....I wouldn't think that the deck switch would stop it for starting....

Sounds like the starter button you put on burned up for sure....what else it took out is a ?. The selinoid should have been replaced as you were putting real high current through the button without the selinoid....amazing it lasted that long!
