Dogwood Acres Campground - Carlisle

I stopped by the campground last Thursday in late morning - unannounced! It is must assuredly off the beaten path, so no highway noises to bother anyone!

For anyone that would want to go that does NOT have a trailer/camper, they have 4 trailers and 4 cabins for rent. You will have to inquire for rental of the trailers. Cabins are: Standard - $45.00 per night. Upgraded (Has toilet and Air Conditioner) - $75.00 .

Trailer rates are $35.00 per night, is for water, electric & sewer hookups (Groups (us) get 10% discount. The $30.00 for just water & electric hookup - again less 10% for our group.

The campground is about a 20-30 minute ride from the fairgrounds. I checked out the bathhouses and they had NOT been cleaned yet for the day and they were in real good shape. Men's and womans have a two toilet/two shower stalls.

As a group, we could have access to a small pavillian. If we only get to have a SMALL group, we could have a tent kind of affair - kinda like the one we had at the truck show.

They only have 11 full hookup sites, so we would have to have our spots reserved VERY SOON to guarantee whatever spots we wanted. Yes, they will insure that our group will be together around this pavillion - IF - we get going with the reservations.

I have a handful of brochures and a map of the spots that I plan on taking to Rev's party, so you can see the layout. Their web site is: www.dogwoodcamping.com and their phone number is: 717-776-5203.

Any thoughts anyone?

So Bud isn't it about 14 miles from the fair grounds compared to 3 or 4 miles for Western Village?

That is true, George! Problem with Western Village is we couldn't get a discount nor could we get a guarantee we'd be close together. At Dogwood, we will also be able to party a while longer at night - so long as we don't get TOO rowdy!

Thanks to you Bud for making the effort to check out this site for the group.

Dave or me will report your findings to the chapter leaders planning for next year.

Don't know if we asked about a discount last time. Will you check this out for us for 2009?

I tried to do a fair and impartial investigation of Dogwood Acres. Now, THAT SAID, if I had my druthers, I'd druther be at Western Village....after a long HOT day at the fairgrounds, I wouldn't look forward to the 20-30 minute drive to Dogwood. All the sites are back-in as they are at W.V. If you go early (Wednesday or Thursday) a 50% discount applies at W.V. if you are a member of Campclub USA!!! No discounts for any F-S-S when any auto shows are in the fairgrounds. If you stay later, same 50% off on Mon-Thursday.

Maybe we ought to have a PA member attempt to get the same discount that Dogwood is offering and ask for members to be together!

My only complaint about Western Village was you were only allowed 1
vehicle per site, although no one listened 2 vehicle was suppose to go up front in the parking lot.
