F-150 to come with 340+ hp

The 2010 F-150 with EcoBoost will produce "significantly more" than 340 hp and 340 lb-ft-torque. It will also be 20+% more fuel efficient.

You mean more hp and MORE mpg.

The Ecoboost F-150 will be 20% more efficient, possibly up to 40% more efficient.

I'll hold my breath about as long as I did for the 1993 supercharged Mach III mustang prototype...

lol is there gonna be a f150 in 2010, or will they replace it with a f100? i think they should do a retro f100 and see what the market thinks...my 2 cents!

I don't see it putting out that much, unless the modular is gonna get some HUGE bumps in power.

Think about, over say the base V6. +$700 for a 340HP 4cyl, or $1000+ for a 310 HP Gas hog V8.

Im no engineer but why is 340 hp out of the question? The lincoln mks will have this engine next year I think and the rumor mill says 340/340. If its true it will be Fords bread and butter engine for the 150 when it comes available if the thing will hold up under sever duty and really get better mileage. I was thinking of buying a truck but Im waiting a few more years for something better to come along.

Now, this has been all over the internet except here. The long awaited 5.0 coming in the mustang in 2011 is supposed to have a truck version developed as well. I cant remember the code names. The mustang 5.0 was called coyote I think. The rumor mill has the mustang 5.0 at 400/360 while the truck was 340/380?

Seems like a major overlap there to me or maybe the rumor mill is wrong. I could see the 3.5TT and 5.0 booting out the 4.6/5.4 for good. A TT 5.0 would be killer but likely will never happen. Anybody have any inside info on this or thoughts?

09'

I thought we were talking about the much heralded 09' F-150? Which I have NOT seen at my local dealer. And from the sound of things will not for a long time.

Let's not forget the "hurricane" or "boss" motor with 400+ HP was rumored to be in the '04 F-150/'05 Mustang. Now it's at least '11 for the F-150 if at all. Meanwhile the new Ram has 390 hp. I'll be floored if the '09 F-150 has more than 320 hp.
