Thinking of buying a new Expy

We're thinking of buying another Expy for a daily driver and a fair amount of towing.

I'm trying to decide if I should wait until the 2009's come out or buy a 2008 when they go on clearance.

Since Ford is closing plants and shifting assembly around and other survival measures, it isn't inspiring much confidence in the quality of the 2009 product.

I'd be interested in hearing other's thoughts and strategies on the subject.

There is not a lot of change for the 09's. If you look, you can get 08 Eddie Bauers for under $29K. Not sure you could get the same deal with an 09.

Rear the thread on towing! Make sure you get the correct equipment for what you tow. I love my new expy and the price was certainly right. My neighbor just bought a new Navigator for $35K loaded! If you wait you will be sorry!

I have a hard time believing that the 8k in rebates are going to get bigger with gas prices headed back down for the fall. The f150 is $9100 in rebates here in Tx for the 4.6l crew! Never saw anything that big before. The bigger issue to me would be if there were major changes to the expy for 09, but I haven't heard of any myself.

but it will tow like a pig trust me. our expy had the 3.73 my codrivers F150 has 3.31 I have used both to tow my car trailer and race truck and the expy will tow circles around that F150 even though it's heavier.

Oh and BTW his F150 MIGHT get 1mpg better when we took a trip together running the same road as well as on an average, his claim is 14-15 mine is steady 14.

I can testify! The 3.31 SUCKS!!! I get mine back today, Ford upgraded it to the 3.73 because of the towing issues.

Do you have any idea why the 3.31 is rated to tow 9,200

but the 3.73 is only rated to tow 9,050

150 pounds less...
