We will if Arnie and the MTA have their way:

No such animal - how long ago was it that the .75% temporary tax was implemented?

Once it's in place, it's never taken away.

Besides, why is it our fault that the State can't operate within it's budget?

Taxes will go as high as "We, The People" allow them to go.

No doubt about it really.

According to John & Ken on KFI they've taken in 40% more revenue since Arnie took office. They spend it!

BTW, I believe the one tax which was rescinded was for the Spanish-American War. I believe one of the more recent tax increase fiascos was to pay for an earthquake, though I don't recall which one. We don't seem to get updates on how much gets paid towards the qualifying event. I'm not shocked.

Mecklenburg County implemented a 1/2 1% sales tax 10 years ago that was to run for 3 years......

10 years and still going strong.........

It's hard for the pols to reap the extra income and then to give it up......Their spending ALWAYS catches up with increased taxes.......And whenever issues of tax cuts come up.....the pols whine about having to cut city services like police and fire and roads if they lose the tax.......Never mind that they use the windfall from the extra tax to do stuff like build arenas and museums or subsidize their favorite social program.....They threaten legitimate city or county or state services to bully people into supporting the tax.....It's pretty morbid......

Sorry if I 'invaded' you West Coasters..... ......This is a sore subject for me, and regarding fiscal irresponsibility and out-of-control spending, I DO believe that Mecklenburg County NC can give southern Cali a run for their money......

No need for the apology, Steve.

Trying to get a tax-increase thread by you would be like trying to sneak a pork chop by a wolf

You're welcome in here any old time.

I guess I'd better hurry up and get that new ignition system before this takes effect.
