Flathead availabilty ??

How easy is it to score a flathead 6 or 8 these days? What kind of money would I be looking at?

i just picked up 2 for $60, one went at an auction for 250. generally a turning over motor would go anywhere from 50-350. A running one with need of rebuild 350-750
a rebuilt one 750-1500, hopped up one depends on how hopped up

where are you located? I have seen about 15 local in the last 30-40 days.
I also just bought a 53 8Rt running for $500.

I was at the local pick n pull. they had three 2 eab 8rt's and a 8cm merc for $300 each, he had just sold the merc earlier that day otherwise I would have picked it up.

It is definitely regional and I see them appear in waves. I've picked a up good runners and the truck with them for $500 and I've seen runners go for more than that by themselves. I've even seen seemingly frozen engines try and go for over $100. Flat 6's are definitely harder to find. I think mostly they get scrapped and no one thinks to try and sell them. I got both my 8 and 6 with the trucks for $500ea. The 8 is a driver and the 6 needs TLC to get it running.

Thanks! Sounds promising. I'm in NC. Got a big swap meet/flea market coming up right after Labor Day. That might be an opportunity to look for one. The pricing info is helpful. Probably look for a block or one needing a rebuild. Forgive my ignorance but what is EAB, 8RT, etc.
