sounds like a plan. be careful not to cut cylinders too thin. is electric plug on head for block heating? going to use adjustable lifters? bigger valves? electric fuel pump? i like to follow rebuilds just to see what works well and what does'nt. if you use electric pump, do you need to block off fuel pump pushrod bushing oil hole?

yup that one of my stud block heaters (there are 2 and they work) not sure on lifters as yet but leaning that way, bigger valves fo sho, for now im going to run the mech fuel pump but i might change that later on in the buiuld if/when i decide to build for a blower. Im eliminating the downdraft tube and running it throu the spare inlet int he fuel pump so i can reburn all the gasses in the carbs. it doies involve blocking off the hole tho. Im buying up every unknown flathead around here searching for a merc 255 for the 4" crank and rods for dirt cheap
i'm not all that familiar with blowers, although it is pretty neat!, so correct me if i'm wrong. you need lower compression to use a blower, so, with bigger pistons in cut cylinders, how will you address this issue? what brand and type of oil pump? hope you don't mind my asking, there's always something to learn, and i'm paying attention. pete

your not alone, im not familiar with them either. I just have long talks with my flatty parts guy and we discuss pros and cons etc.
Ok I've heard you talk about your Flathead Parts Guy....Where did you find this guy? The closest I've found is a machine shop that rebuild them. Just wondered...Maybe I should look up in Denver...
Brad
my flathead parts guy is a friend of my father in law. He owns an auto parts "store" here in saskatoon called Jitney auto parts. He deals strictly in flathead and what he calls "hot rod goodies", such as, lakes pipes, necker *****, monoleaf springs spotlights etc. I have a couple of articles by hot rod magazine around here somewhere, that he is listed as a source for. He really knows his flatties. Im pretty sure he ships to the states if your interested ill PM you his info. He also just came out with an 85 page catalogue of just the motor stuff, but hes hoping to expand into the "goodies" in the next couple of months.
