1:38 AM July 7, 2006 Meteor (or LARGE shooting star) over Western New York State

Yes, folks, you heard it first here. Moderate sized meteor passes over Western New York State this early July morning.

It wasn't as large, long, or colorful as the one in the late eighties, but it was a good little show, appearing as the pictures of a comet appear, but very bright, with a white color, and decent tail.

It was visible to me as it crossed the sky traveling eastward for an eighth to a quarter of the visible sky arc. It may have been visible longer before it caught my attention.

Well, I could be a clairvoyant...

...or too dumb at 2:30 am to remember to flip-flop the European date style of this stupid watch, i.e. today appears as 06/07/08 and it is eleventeen different steps to change the date on the danged watch.

OK, so beat me up for a little chronological dyslexia...I liked '06 better anyway!

At any rate...EARLY today was when it was.
