Wiper Delay Module

I didnt' even know my 85 F-150 was even supposed to have intermittent wipers until someone told me I had a wiper delay module. I replaced the wiper switch and the intermittent part just goes at the same pace as the slow setting. Does this mean that the module is bad? And if so, where on earth can I get a new one.

Are you sure you are operating the switch correctly?

One click to the right, from off, slow speed. Two clicks to the right Fast.

Turn the **** to the left, all the way to the left is about 15 to 20 second pauses. All the way to the right of the intermittent section of the switch is 1/8 of a second pauses. Almost but not quite as fast as slow speed.

Wrecking yards are your best bet for a module, and switch.

1980-1991 F-series pickups.

1980-1998 F-series mid size trucks F-600 Up.

The intermittent wiper switch is different from the 2 speed switch.

Junk yard is your friend. I have a couple extra sitting on the shelf right now.

Very nice to have and a very easy mod if you don't have delayed wipers.

The post about your cruise conrol amplifier said it sounded like you were describing a wiper control box. Its possible you could have been describing the infered mileage sensor which is also in that same general area. If the wiper switch won't urn to the left you do not have intermittent wipers. But if you want the go to Ebay...they're always on there cheap. Its the easiest upgrade you can do on these trucks.

I always wondered why i could turn my **** to the left. It never did anything. I got a new switch and it now goes the same speed as the slow setting while turning to the right.
It looks like I'm off the the junk yard again. Wish I had known last week, I was there and probably passed by a few.

Look for an XLT truck or Bronco. They almost always had delayed wipers.

AFAIK all the way up to 96 are the same. Some modules are just tie wrapped to the harness near the switch, and some are held on with a metal bracket and one 8mm screw under the dash but they are all the same.

These modules usually fail because of breaks in the circuit. Pull it apart and solder any suspect joints or links.

Yes, but the question involved a 1985, so I only posted the info that pertained to it.

When buying used parts, the governor for 1980/83 (E0TZ-17C476-A), won't work 1984/91 because the mounting plate is different.

The new replacing part fits all years, the original 1980/83 part will not.

True, but you really don't need the mounting plate any way.

Just make sure it's grounded and tie wrap it to the harness.

Failing that, you can take the mounting plate with you too, when visiting the wreckers. It's only held on there with a "screw-bolt" anyway.

The big Dummy hasn't examined one a these governors since Ford was prez, Gerald Ford that is.

So I can only go by what the parts catalog sez.
