I scoped out NAVY Lake, and also Edward Orgill Park
NAVY Lake has facilities, and I took note of a fee sign that was posted.
No day use fee.
Rent an entire covered picnic area? Three different prices.
Active duty/retired= $100. We don't need to do that, we're just grillin' in a corner of an available (not reserved) one. There are many...
DOD/CIV=$250
"GUEST"=$300
Like I said, not needed.
Daily boat rental= $15 ACDU/RET'D. Daily means ALL FREEKING DAY!!! They can also be rented by the hour, but not sure what they have. Best guess is bring your own motor.
Private Boat Launch= $5 per day. They have a ramp.
I think renting a horseshoe pit is a dollar a day.
It's neither a tiny nor a large lake, but definitely not fished out because not many go there.
There are lots of picnic areas with grills already in place - Orgill park is very limited in this regard.
EDWARD ORGILL Park is very big - but there is very little there at all. I saw only two or three picnic areas. Alcohol is not allowed in Orgill park.
NAVY Lake? Like they expect sailors to be THAT politically correct...
NAVY Lake is also closer to the commissary, where I can pickup whatever we need even cheaper than cosco, sams club or whatever. There's NO TAX! Think about that seriously... Many items are much less expensive EVEN WITHOUT considering tax.
You also find stuff at the commissary you don't see around town. Calamari anyone? How about certified BUFFALO meat? SWORDFISH STEAKS... I love the place.
There's no BAIT SHOP. But there's the commissary once again...
Chicken livers, schrimp, various kinds of fish, frozen corn, etc... I can bring a cast net for local minnows if we want.
"FACILITIES" includes bathrooms, and even portapotties at picnic areas farther from the main pavillion.
The main place (if it's open) has a snack bar and is air conditioned. There are also water sources- fountains, etc...
I don't recall seeing an ICE machine. That doesn't mean there isn't one somewhere around it, I just didn't notice it.
Does that sound like a cool spot to G2G??? It's wide open for us.
