Thumbs up have y'all heard this?

well, when I was getting on this site the other day I saw in the 09 F150 forum something very interesting. the name of the post was 2011 F100. it said basically that Ford is thinking about bringing back the F100 to be like a beefed up Ranger. the only think is that I don't remember what they said they were going to do with the Ranger. so my question is have any of y'all heard this or not?

Yeah, heard about it, but I seriously doubt it will happen.

Will all the Cut Backs Ford is making b/c of high gas prices, I don't see them wasting money on something like this.

Just like I don't see the 6.2 BOSS engine making it into the new F150s like they said it would......By this time next year the new F150s were supposed to be available with a diesel option, but with diesel heading towards $5 a gallon...don't see this either.

No, the 6.2 is the gas engine Ford was going to use to shut up the 6.0L gas chevy engine and Dodges Hemi.
The diesel was going to be a 4.4L

Yeah, I heard that.

If I was to guess, it's probably a Ranger redesign, with a F-100 branding. Because the F-series brand is stronger than the Ranger brand. In other words a simple marketing ploy or technique.

Like the Ford Areostar Van. Hmm, why not call it a windstar when we redesign it, type ploy.

my opinion of it...

I could see the diesel actually working to sell a few more F150 pickups if it actually helps increase the fuel mileage. My best friend has an '04 9 MPG with 1000 lbs of tools in it driving around Atlanta. Now if someone can explain WHY his son's '05 F150 with a gas 5.4 only gets 18 empty while drafting a tractor-trailer down hill..I'll be happy.
Anything Ford can do to use less fuel for people who actually work out of their trucks would be an improvement. IMHO.
Back to the F100 branding..hey if they make it look cool again and it lasts as long as the rangers tend to last.I say Let 'em do it!"

Now the Aerostar and Windstar were two completely different vehicles. Aerostar was rear drive and shared some parts with the Ranger, Windstar was front drive built on Taurus platform. Now the change from Windstar to Freestar, that one was a bit odd since they are essentially the same thing. If you've ever worked on an Aerostar, you would see why Ford would want to get away from that nameplate as soon as possible. Glad we don't see many of those anymore.

So it's exactly what I thought they were doing then.

Hasn't Ford learned from their past mistakes? 1961-1963 F-100 unibodies anyone?

I hope so, they really need to rethink the ranger. Jesus the Toyota Tacoma has been stomping the Ranger's stats to long. We need a beefed up v6 with some mileage. I'm not sure I like the unibody thing though. Anybody seen a design pic?

Next year is 2009. They always come out with new vehicals around August of the year before.

So The 2010 F150s will be out august or so 2009, but unless they already have everything finished ready to go now, not a good chance they are going to go head first paying for everything that is required to finish....it'll probably be pushed back.
