Hey guys I was driving in my buddys 05 dullie last nite and when we went to pass a truck on the highway and his truck just started sputtering and spitting out allot of black smoke. The truck has no mods besides a 4 inch exhaust. Any idea what this could be? Thanks

 

I'm no mechanic but I think black smoke indicates the turbo hanging up.

 

Very possibly the egr valve sticking. Try unplugging the egr valve and drive the truck to see if it still does it.

As previously stated it sounds like an EGR valve issue. I had the same problem a it was that valve. Emmisions are warentied for 100 thousand.
