Removing stubborn brake dust?

Well, I admit I don't clean my expy like I should. But when I do, the wheels have brake dust that is really baked on and hard to get off. I have the 18" aluminum wheels and mostly it is in the corners of the spokes. I have used a bristle brush and simple green, but it only gets it so far. Anyone have any suggestions to get all of it off?

What happens is the dust gets embedded in the clear coat. You already know, washing them at least twice a month is mandatory...

I would try using a clay bar, the kind used for paint. Mequiars makes a readily available set for under $20. Don't use the clay on the paint after you do the wheels.
