harmonic balancer removel

Is the bolt on a 2.3L motor(95 Ranger) reverse thread? How do you remove the bolt without turning the whole pulley as well.Any help please!

An impact wrench is the easiest way to get the bolt off. If an impact wrench is not available, try having someone put the vehicle in gear and stand on the brakes while you loosen the bolt.

On some other cars, some use deep socket, a long breaker bar to the ground, then bump the starter...make sure your rotation of the engine will loosen it!

It should be a standard fastener.

i am in the middle of my 96 2.3 timing belt job now, my Ingersol Rand 1/2 inch gun wouldnt take the bolt out, so i took a breaker bar and put on the frame and turned the motor over and it came loose, and i needed a puller to remove the balancer. I replaced the tensioner also, when i would put pressure on the belt it would keep jumping a tooth off on the crank, but i finally got it all lined up.

what kind of gear puller did you use im trying to get mine off my 95 right now and cant seem to doit? was it a claw type or what? my balancer only has 2 holes that are right next to eachother so i cant use the kind that just screws bolts into it and pulls it off and i have no idea how to get the balancer off.

I used a cheap claw puller and it came off easy. The bolt you turn on the claw puller just sets againt the crank bolt hole, it wont hurt it.

Take washer off bolt and thread it back in the end of the crank. Takes a few extra seconds, but it's way less time than trying to fix the threads inside the crank cause the puller messed them up.
