Aftermarket DVD Players

Aftermarket DVD Players
I got stuck in a big accident on the hwy today and my 18 mth old was tired and hungry.. I was wishing I had dropped the 2k on the DVD package so I could turn on Elmo for him and calm him down. Anyone have any recommendations for the cheapy aftermarket DVD players?? Any pics of the setups? I have seen some that attach to the posts of the headrests and are completely self contained, I think that would be the ideal setup.

I agree completely. I spent close to 1K on a nice overhead in my 06 Explorer that we were convinced we would have forever, and 6 months later we traded in for our 07 expedition. You get no trade in value for a dvd upgrade, plus if you were to wreck your vehicle, you are out of luck as well. I am 100% supporting the cheap head rest units, they can hook up a video game on one, and watch a movie on the other, and its easily portable.

I decided on a overhead Alpine dvd console. The headrests were a problem for me because the third row passengers would have a hard time watching. As well as cost for the headrests were significant more then the overhead. On the headrests I was looking for a factory matched dvd headrest with ran about $1300 to $1600 depending on brand. The overhead cost me $650 installed. So far my niece and nephew love it :-)

10" screen and $160 for the install. I saw the whole process of the installation and for the money it cost to install it it was worth every penny. If you shop the Alpine unit you can find some good deals out there. Then you can install it yourself or take it to reputable install shop and have it done for you.
